TBT Committees
Volunteers Needed

“It is often through our committees that members become involved...”

It is often through our committees that members become involved in the congregation, in a way that truly and positively affects their lives, as well as the life of the congregation itself. It is easy to make friends at TBT, and to become an integral part of the workings of the congregation.

Adult Education - plans courses, programs, educational outings and social events as part of the temple's commitment to Lifelong Jewish Learning.

Building and Grounds - is responsible for maintaining our building and property in good order and repair, for establishing regulations for the use of the physical facilities, and for overseeing functions.

Budget and Finance - monitors the financial condition of the temple, and advises the Treasurer, recommends investments, and assists in the preparation of the annual budget.

Chesed - is concerned with the "good and welfare" of our congregants. It is available to assist our members in times of family or personal crisis. A phone call to the Rabbi or chairperson brings help when needed. The committee also wishes "mazal tov" on behalf of the congregation when simchas are celebrated.

Communications - maintains and designs the temple's website, and oversees print communication, advertising, and public

Fund-Raising - organizes a variety of events throughout the year which are both profitable to the temple and enjoyable to its members.

Green Committee - As Jews, we have a responsibility to protect the Earth. The Green Committee was formed with the mission of making the TBT community more aware of the world around us and how we can do our part in protecting it.

Membership - disseminates information about our temple community and its potential to prospective new members. In addition to conducting an outreach program, it strives to help all members to become an integral part of the temple community. The committee also develops policies and programs for the retention of existing members.

Newsletter – works on TBT's Alenu newsletter.

Outreach

Pulpit - Oversees internal relations between the clergy and temple leadership.

Religious Practices - in consultation with clergy, sets ritual standards, policies, and procedures, encourages creative liturgy, and facilitates home observance for members.

Religious School - along with the Director of Education and the Rabbi, takes responsibility for the education of our children, who represent the future of our families and our extended Jewish Community. The committee helps formulate educational goals for toddlers through high schoolers, and evaluates the progress of the school. It also reviews the school's budget and the hiring of personnel.

Social Action - informs the congregation about issues and programs whose goal is "Tikkun Olam," the perfecting of our world. This committee organizes temple participation in community programs, including hunger and homeless projects, interracial and interfaith dialogues, and other issues affecting the welfare of the Jewish Community in Rockland County.

Social Justice Committee

Youth - gives direction to, and assists the Youth Advisors in carrying out the dozens of Youth Group activities each year. Other responsibilities include coordination of TBT-based conclaves and regional activities and oversight of the Youth Scholarship Fund, which offers youth group members financial assistance to a wide variety of youth programs.
