“The Youth Arm of the UAHC”
In 1939, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations founded what would come to be known as the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY).
In the more than fifty years of its existence, NFTY has touched the lives of literally thousands of young American Jews through the programs it runs and the relationships it fosters. NFTY has influenced both the Jewish community and the world, and has let its voice be heard on the issues which confront us as Jews and as human beings.
To say we are proud of our youth groups would be an understatement. Year after year they win regional awards, their members serve on regional boards, and our advisors are invited to present workshops in other congregations.
Participation is a positive and rewarding experience which enriches Jewish learning through trips, Shabbat services, sports events, social action, inter-temple programming, dances, discussions, and overnight shul-ins.
The Senior group's elected board forms policies, makes decisions, and designs creative programs while learning leadership skills. Its members also participate in national Reform programs and in regional events with other temples in New Jersey and southeastern New York, all part of the Garden Empire Region of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY-GER)
If you are making a donation to TBT, please make it to the Youth Scholarship Fund. This fund subsidizes the NFTY National Convention, regional NFTY-GER programs and Summer programs in Israel or at NFTY camps.
